CURIOSITIES - Chamo

in #curiosities6 years ago

Hello friends of steemit, today we continue with Venezuelan expressions, a very common is the word "chamo". It is believed that the Portuguese emigrants, who arrived in Venezuela in the 1940s, asked "how do you call such a thing", appealing to the Portuguese word "chamada" (to call). Or when they sent someone to call or something was said "chamo a ... chama a ...".

It can also be a derivation of the Spanish word "lad", which in turn in Mexico resulted in "chavo" or "chava".

It could also have derived from the English "chum" which means "comrade".

In Venezuela, it refers to young people.
