TOPIC:
CULTIVATE THANKFULNESS

KEY VERSE:
Colossians 3:15

MESSAGE:
A few years ago, a commercial on television began with a black and white clip of Lou Gehrig being honoured by Yankee fans on his last day of play. His career was shorted by ALS, which is now called Lou Gehrig's disease, a debilitating muscle disease that eventually stops the heart. What would you have said in the face of this heartbreaking challenge? Amazingly, he begins, "Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth. " This statement took many aback. How could he say that? One word answers the question. Gratitude". Gratitude for all the gifts he had received, for all the love he had been shown by fans, for all the opportunities he had. He focused on the joys not the losses. That is cultivating thankfulness!

Being thankful dose not come easy for some of us. But God tell us to cultivate thankfulness. How do you cultivate anything? You work at it . You nourish it. You do whatever it takes to make it thrive Gratitude comes from humility. A proud man is seldom a grateful man, for the he never thinks he gets as much as he deserves". (Henry Ward Beecher). God is good and merciful.

Meanwhile, we need to take time today to thank the Lord for the gift of a new month; for the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly elections held two weeks ago and for the Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly Elections coming up tomorrow.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS:
We can cultivate thankfulness by focusing on the positive side of the coin.

PRAYER:
Thank you Lord for paying the price for me; may I always be thankful to you and my fellow men.
