Fair point, it should be a refined game before going around in the mainstream. It's such a young game still. Steem Monsters at least is a refined product, even if I don't like it much.
I think @geekpowered has a point about a lot of the games here on the Steem network: a lot of them aren't really polished enough for the masses just yet. CryptoKitties worked because the art worked, and that sadly isn't the case for things like SteemMonsters. DrugWars, as mentioned, just isn't really a game yet either. There's just a lot of polishing to be made, or, well, just that one developer that really kicks ass and creates something that blows the rest out of the water.
That's a good point, too. Hopefully we'll see something well polished on the Steem blockchain, too. So many apps being made that you'd think at least one of them would be good and well polished :D
