Dash Paper Wallet
Dash Paper Wallet – Security & Usage
Why a Dash Paper Wallet Is Secure
A Dash paper wallet is a form of cold storage where the private key is kept completely offline. Unlike exchange, web, or mobile wallets that run on internet-connected devices, a paper wallet exists only as a physical document. This makes it resistant to online attacks such as malware, phishing, and remote hacking.
When generated with a client-side tool, the Dash address and private key are created locally in your browser. No data is sent to any server. As long as you keep the printed wallet safe and never share the private key, your funds remain highly secure for long-term storage.

How to Restore or Import Your Dash Paper Wallet
To spend the funds stored on your Dash paper wallet, you must import or sweep the private key into a Dash wallet. The process is slightly different depending on the wallet you use.
A) Using Dash Core (Desktop)
- Download and install Dash Core from the official Dash website.
- Open Dash Core and wait until it fully syncs with the blockchain.
- Go to Help → Debug Window → Console.
-
Type:
importprivkey "your_private_key_here"and press Enter. - Wait for the rescan to finish. Your balance will appear in Dash Core.
B) Using Dash Electrum
- Download and install Dash Electrum.
- Create a new wallet or open an existing wallet.
- Go to Wallet → Private Keys → Import.
- Paste your private key and confirm.
- Your funds will now show in Dash Electrum.
C) Using Mobile Dash Wallets (Sweep Function)
- Install an official Dash mobile wallet from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the wallet and go to the menu or settings.
- Look for an option such as Sweep Paper Wallet or Import Private Key.
- Scan the paper wallet QR code or enter the private key manually.
- Confirm the sweep to move the funds into your mobile wallet address.
Sweeping is recommended because it transfers the balance to a new address controlled by your software or mobile wallet, instead of continuing to use the original paper wallet address.
D) Using Hardware Wallets (Indirectly)
Most hardware wallets (such as Ledger or Trezor) do not import raw private keys directly. Instead, you can:
- Sweep the paper wallet into a mobile or desktop wallet.
- Send the funds from that wallet to a receive address on your hardware wallet.
This allows you to move long-term holdings from a paper wallet into the added security of a hardware device.
