Daybook December 27

This Daybook reflects on the journey from discovering the true meaning of nursing to realizing the calling of nurse education.

It highlights how inspiration from faculty and clinical experience can shape a nurse’s professional identity and long-term purpose

As I moved through nursing school,
I slowly realized that nursing was not simply a job with a stable schedule.
It was a profession grounded in responsibility, judgment, and care.

My faculty members did more than teach skills.
They inspired me—and quietly lit a fire in me.
A fire not only to care for patients,
but to teach others how to care.

After my first year working as a nurse,
I learned something important:
clinical education shapes practice long after graduation.

Six years later, I understood that if I wanted to teach well,
I needed to return to learning myself.

Becoming a nurse educator was not a career change.
It was the natural continuation of loving nursing deeply.

One Line for Nurses and Student Nurses Today:
Loving nursing deeply often leads us to teaching others how to care.
