Jesus vs lies and deceit: Moses gave you the Law, didn't he? But not one of you obeys the Law. John 7:19

The Kingdom of God announced by Jesus does not simply consist of the opposition between the spirit and the flesh, between the divine and the worldly, but in something more complex, which is the opposition of the divine wisdom of Jesus against deceit, lies, and oppression, and this spiritual conflict is what underlies in the story of the Gospel of John.
The Gospel of John relates that Jesus, after healing a sick man at the pool of Bethsaida and performing the first multiplication of the loaves near Tiberias, was called by his family and friends to participate in the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem, and Jesus, knowing that his life was in danger, went but in secret. Jesus knew that the religious authorities wanted to end his life as had happened with John the Baptist, and he acted very carefully, trying not to cause scandals.
But the Gospel of John relates that Jesus, once he arrived in Jerusalem, did not go unnoticed because he began to teach with wisdom in the Temple, which caught the attention of many, especially his enemies, the religious authorities of that time. Among his spiritual teachings, Jesus warned of a problem that had already been pointed out by many prophets in the Bible: the hardness of hearts and the love of money, which reduced the law to a game of masks and appearances. This is why, while teaching in the temple of Jerusalem, the divine master warned with wisdom to his listeners: "Moses gave you the Law, didn't he? But not one of you obeys the Law" John 7:19.
And then Jesus continued explaining that a person could not be condemned for healing on the Sabbath; an overly rigid interpretation of the law of Moses towards others was a way of altering and destroying its true spiritual meaning. Because, as a prophet mentioned by Jesus taught: "For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings" Hosea 6:6. Like the prophets, Jesus warned that all the law should be subjected to that heart of flesh, that is, to the spiritual gift of fear of God. That is why Jesus explained again: "Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly" John 7:24. Jesus condemned appearances, lies, and oppression.
For Jesus, there was no other path than faith united with that revealed wisdom of the Kingdom, and so he finally corrected them and told them: "I am the light of the world" John 8:12.
