I 'did' notice your article being a bit different in some ways...but, sometimes 'shorter' is not so bad. Online content creation (writing) has to be approached quite differently than hard copy stuff of the past; people lose their interest more quickly, and the eyes tire from the glow of the screen.
I'm not quite sure what you meant by

You just hit the nail on the head before asking the question.
As the answer is I do shorter style posts on purpose now, due to the facts you stated plus more, and it seems to win on here, those that judge maybe want a few thousand words, and as I am not willing to write a few thousand for the sake of it = not willing to sell my soul. :-)
