Not very surprising - history keeps repeating itself.
But for many in the West Russia's persistence has been underestimated. Georgia, Ukraine, Syria - the Western strategy failed again and again and the West is losing prestige, while Putin's Russia is gaining prestige even among citizens who live in the West.
