Binance moves to Europe!
Unbelievable but true; Binance has become the world's largest cryptocoin exchange this year. Although there is a global decline in cryptocoin investments at the moment, the platform is now trading over $2 billion a day. Currently, a licensing procedure by the national financial supervisory authority is pending in Japan, so Binance wants to secure itself with a move to Malta. If Binance does not do so, the Japanese authorities could threaten Binance with a closure request and get it through.
With the opening of a European office of Binance, the exchange would also be accessible to European banks. In future, this will enable the exchange not only to exchange crypto-to-cryptocoins, but also to buy and sell cryptocoins in Fiat currencies.
Binance could at the same time deal with the pending licensing in Japan and seek to expand the service. Besides Malta, Gibraltar and the Swiss city of Zug were previously considered possible destinations for Binance in Europe, whereby the Swiss city is against the immigration of crypto-based companies and entails the associated mostly bad reputation. Fortunately, Malta was finally awarded the contract because it is considered very open to the cryptocoin and blockchain industry.
My conclusion:
On the one hand I think it is good and on the other hand it is bad that Binance moves to Malta or opens a second location. For us investors, this may have the advantage that Malta may also consider introducing regulations for cryptographic exchanges in the future in order to better protect investors. On the other hand, these very regulations are a poison for the survival of the crypto community, which is based on anonymity.
