Still hockt vor seiner Schwelle
Ein müder Bauersmann,
Ein wandernder Geselle
Blickt ihn neidisch an.
"Ach, wer's doch auch so hätte!"
Er denkt es wehmutsvoll,
"Noch winkt mir keine Stätte,
Wo ich heut rasten soll."
Der Bauer in seinem Grolle
Sinnt: "Schlecht ist das bestellt.
Ich quäl mich an der Scholle,
Der Lump besitzt die Welt!"
