Yep same principle works for acievements...
Most ppl say
"I want to stop smoking"
"I want to lose weight"
"I want to be richt"
All of that implies you are not. When you want to be rich you arent yet!
It gets even more mindfucking(execuse me) when you "want to lose weight" when you lose and lose you die, so you cant lose weight, so you need eat to gain weight to lose it again, so ppl keep themselfes in a circle.
This is often reffered to "power of attraction". The book "The secret" explains this priciple really good, but its in german, may you find a englisch link. Its long but worth watching if you like the topic:

Krebs heilt sich nicht durch positives Denken allein. Armut verschwindet nicht, weil du dir Reichtum visualisierst, ohne entsprechende Handlungen oder günstige Umstände.
Das Buch impliziert teilweise eine Art Victim-Blaming: Wenn dir etwas Schlimmes passiert, hast du es angezogen durch negative Gedanken. Das ist nicht nur falsch, sondern kann auch schädlich sein.
Es vermischt echte psychologische Effekte mit pseudowissenschaftlicher "Quantenphysik"-Rhetorik (was die meisten Physiker die Augen verdrehen lässt).
Es verdeutlicht aber ein Prinzip, dass ich wichtig finde... dein eigenes denken bewusst zu erfassen, zu lenken und zu steuern weil du durch deine Gedanken deine Wahrnemung bestimmt und programmierst.
