Why do digital transformation projects often stall in mid-sized companies?

in #digital10 days ago

Been banging my head against the wall trying to push a digital transformation project at my mid-sized company, and it keeps stalling out for reasons I can’t quite pin down. Feels like we’re too big to be agile but too small to have the resources to power through. Leadership gets excited, then distracted, teams get overwhelmed, and everything ends up half-finished. I’m starting to wonder if this is just “normal” for companies our size or if we’re missing something obvious. Would love to hear what’s worked (or totally failed) for others before I lose my mind over this.

That’s actually pretty common. Mid-sized companies often stall because leadership support fades, teams are already overloaded with day-to-day work, and the transformation isn’t broken into small, clear wins. If people don’t see quick results, momentum dies fast and the project slowly drifts into “later” territory.

Man, it sounds like you've hit a snag there on your digital journey. It's a common thing for mid-sized companies—caught in a weird middle ground. Leadership might flip-flop like a fish out of water. To get a grip on it, you could dive into the BusinessPally blog. They break tech and business stuff down in a way that even my grandma could get it. Loads of practical advice there.
