What is the best source of paid traffic for affiliates?
hello steemers,
Paid traffic is any type of traffic that you have to pay for to obtain. Many mistake paid traffic for “PPC” but it goes much further then that. For example even if you were to advertise on the Super Bowl any traffic that the ad sent to your website would be considered paid traffic.
However some of the most common sources of paid traffic are:
Pay Per Click advertising (PPC):
As the name suggests you pay for each click that is sent to your site. This is more of a bidding type rather than a type of traffic however as there are several ad networks that currently have PPC advertising such as Google Adwords, Bing, Facebook, Twitter, etc. In most cases it’s best to send this traffic to an offer of some sort to capture the visitors information to market to them later.
Search Traffic:
This is also usually called PPC traffic because usually you pay for ever click that is sent to your website, however what is different about this type of traffic is it comes from search engines. Such as Google Adwords, Yahoo Gemini, Bing, 7 search, etc. This traffic is quite expensive, but is also very high quality since the users intent is so high. For example if someone is searching for “buy product name” it is more than likely they are ready to buy the product right away. Search traffic also allows you to capture user who are further up the “intent funnel” such as in the information and research phase. Since it’s easy to identify the intent of the user you can give a much better experience based on the content served and create a long lasting relationship.
Display Advertising:
This type of traffic is commonly seen on a lot of content sites. Display advertising is any type of banner regardless if it’s static or animated. This type of advertising comes in the form of both PPC and Cost Pre Thousands (CPM) where you simply pay each time a visitor sees your banner regardless if they click or not. The user engagement of this type of traffic is very low, since unlike search traffic the visitor did not ask to see what you have to offer. Over the years the click through rate (CTR) of this type of advertising has gotten worse and worse. That is even with more and more targeted ads being displayed based on pasts interests and other forms of demographics data.
Media Buying:
This is also known as fixed cost advertising, where you pay to have your advertisement usually on a blog, video or other forms of media. This type of advertising isn’t based on performance as you are paying for it in terms of time frame, for example: having your banner show on a blog for 30 days for a fixed cost. This type of advertising is usually only worth it if you’ve recognized this property as having a high percentage of your target demographics. It does however still have more risk than other forms of advertising, since even if the site you are advertising on some how loses it’s traffic, you have already paid for the advertisement.
Social:
A newer form of traffic is social traffic. This is any type of traffic that is generated from a social media platform such as: Facebook, Pintrest, Linkedin, Twitter, etc. This type of traffic is good from companies and brands that are looking to expand their audience based on very specific demographics data, such as age, gender, employment status, etc.
There are literally millions of places to purchase paid traffic, however I highly recommend that you take it slow and test only one channel at a time.
