The End of Herbicides

This should make the anti-chemical alarmists deliriously happy.

I bet it won't.
They live to complain.
They'll find something else to complain about.
They always do.
But I digress

The first job I ever had was 'choppin cotton'. Strange as it might seem the idea was NOT to harm the cotton but rather to kill the weeds. I used a hoe. A few years later I had a summer job in High School...'rouging maize'. I used a machete. Oh the horror..the horror. The mere sight of my blade would make a grown snow-flake cry.

But I digress again.

The point is...it doesn't take a chemical to kill a weed. A seven year old with a blade can do the job just fine. I got fifty cents an hour. I thought that I was RICH. But minimium wage laws, child labor laws...and stuff...eliminated that job.

So Robots.

I like the Tertill

Solar power. Not many 'smarts'. Leave it in your garden and 'fuggetaboutit'.
Where Tertill goes, nothing grows.
Seems like a good idea to me.

On a larger scale..there are bigger 'bots.

When I was a treeplanter many years ago I learned that tree planting ain't for tree huggers. The work and chemicals and destruction that goes into the logging industry really had me in an illusion.

After the trees are logged the land goes rather untouched for a few years aside from another crew coming in and dousing the area with chemicals to kill off the unwanted planted and keep certain bugs at bay. A few years after new trees are planted a different crew comes in and kills anything that is competing with the planted ones that make money.

The chemicals cause frogs to ave 3 legs and stuff like that, I have seen some pretty cool mutants in the middle of no where. Still, better than dousing the acres with agent orange from a plane. ^^

that's a good idea, but after robots replace all the work that 7 year olds do now what will we need children for?

It's funny to hear people still blubbering about overpopulation when the real challenge we will face is a lack of population.

you say funny...I say pathetic.

It's just more progressive racism, it's all places where black and brown people live they call overpopulated, even though the population density of places white people live may be many times higher.

It's funny to hear people still blubbering about overpopulation when the real challenge we will face is a lack of population.

this is a great idea to slow the chemical toxification of our food supply.
I didn't know they were working on this but it makes perfect sense.
"The mere sight of my blade would make a grown snow-flake cry." lol! too funny @everittdmickey! great post.

Chic article. I learned a lot of interesting and cognitive. I'm screwed up with you, I'll be glad to reciprocal subscription))

The first link to Tertill is broken, also the last link is a google search, have you tried duck-duck-go?

The idea is completely sound, they can spray the weeds with vinegar and it will kill the weed while decomposing into carbohydrates which are food for plants, which is why I think you put your remark about anti-chemical alarmists at the beginning since the article talks about herbicides, and I'd remove the other sources and keep the last one(routers), as they are redundant and hardly have any meat to chew on.

GREAT IDEA.
you can make a post TOO!

In the blockchain what I did counts as a post, odd how that works, here's another one.

It is his post...

What's your point, seems that you had a thought but are at a loss for words to conclude what you had to say, do you want me to do it for you?

It's his post, and that is my comment.

Your comments sounded like you were an English teacher trying to school him for not writing the post the way you would if you had written it. Now you just seem tight wound and defensive. Hopefully you can be ok letting it go. It's just a post man.

Why, did I say anything about his grammar or spelling? Absolutely not. I only gave him a heads up that the links he had were SPAMMY and making it seem as if there was much more to it than it actually was, and I told him that one of his links is broken. Why did you assume that I "sounded" like that? Also why do I seem not "ok" and why does it seem like "I'm holding onto what I said" as if I was repeating myself and insisting on what I remarked, and why am I defensive, simply because I remarked that your thought was incomplete or because of what I said previously? I won't hold my breath because people who are worried about what things "sound" like are fallaciously focusing on tone policing and don't actually care about the substance of what was said, hence why you started speaking only about "it sounded" and what it seems to you, without any lick of substance for what actually transpired and why you won't be able to reason any of the question I posed which stand rhetorical and will remain so, maybe you can appreciate the nuance of what something is, and not what something appears or seems to you like.

I bet it won't.They live to complain. They'll find something else to complain about.

...can I complain about you, complaining about me, complaining about chemicals in food then?
😂😂

You can.
but you risk pissing of Odin.
nested complaint more than three deep draw his wraith.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiit, better be careful....

that would look great on a van.

How did you get the horse to stay so still during the painting..?
😂

butt kissing session ?

sense of humor.
Socialist are too bitter, low IQ'd, and negative to recognize it in others.

The will of Odin.

I love this!

I've weeded many a garden by hand, as I am a devoted chemical alarmist.

My present garden is about 1 foot square and contains an heirloom tomato. Not much room for a weedbot! I'll just have to slave away and weed by hand.

sprinkle a little corn gluten around after the next time you weed.

What does corn gluten do? Seems like it'd retain moisture...

its fairly granular and you sprinkle it on the surface, it is an organic pre-emergent herbicide, it will prevent new weeds from germinating and it is just corn gluten so it is non toxic.

I'll look into it, as one of my neighbors is gifting me some Irises, and I need to make another garden bed for them. They'll take more room than one tomato plant.

Thanks!

Hard times make hard men.

Tremendous development ... for those of us who have had the opportunity to work in agriculture, we know the positive impact this may have.
I am wondering, will it be good or bad news for the socialists of the 21st century? Ya, I got it ... it's good news for them not because of the positive impact on agriculture, No, none of that ... it would be positive because it would be a new business that could be done to fill the pockets of money (corruption) and then the robots they are left abandoned in any part of the country.
