My Portfolio #6 Gothic Green man

Hello everyone,

The green man has been synonymous with woodcarving over the centuries.

He is the watcher of the woods and forests in folk lore.

I have made many versions over the years and all to my own designs.

There are certain elements that are quintessential to a green man carving and I hope to show this in the next few posts.

This one is in oak and in the Gothic style.

I purposefully wanted the carving to be a little crude to be in line with very early Gothic wood carvings.

This is actually number 3/25 of a limited edition.

Although no two are the same because they are all carved by hand , I decided to reproduce the design on this particular piece.
