The ONE thing missing in social media & why you NEED to know it!

HEYA STEEMIT FRIENDS.
I'm about to post this to my Facebook networks as an intro to Steemit.
What are your thoughts?

I must apologise to you.
I've not been on Facebook much (if at all), except to check if someone has messaged me or tagged me in something.
It's not because I think it's important to disconnect from technology or any of the cliched fashionable, yet antiquated ideas that get promulgated regularly.

Let's face and accept the truth.
We all love technology and social media.
It satisfies something we crave for.
(there are some reading this that are shaking their heads in disagreement, yet ironically are reading this on Facebook).

So why am I not here much anymore?

Because Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, etc do not pay me money for my hard work, yet every single time I (and you) post something THEY get paid and THEY get more of your personal data about you, your habits, your friends and family to use to make even more money that they don't even share with you.
They make it seem like they are providing you with a free service, but it's completely the other way around.

You all know me to be a proactive activist and constantly searching the forefront of potential new revolutionary tools to help liberate us from the shackles of this destructive, compassionless pyramid economic system.

I'VE FOUND A PLATFORM THAT IS VASTLY BETTER!
AND IT PAYS ME EVERY SINGLE TIME I POST.
And I am not talking about a little pittance like Youtube from supposed ad revenue (but only if you have over 1,000 subscribers). I get paid anywhere from $US5 to $US150.

STOP. So now you probably think I'm trying to sell you something or it's some kind of multi-level marketing scam.

Nah. I get absolutely nothing from you in any way, shape or form, aside from a recalcitrant’s pleasure knowing that one less person I care about is being duped and ripped off by a multibillion dollar corporation.

At the start of the year, Ben Lee introduced me to the start of the future of social media platforms.
Steemit
It's a revolutionary, positive, transparent and very generous platform set up on the blockchain and is it’s own cryptocurrency - STEEM. In fact, there are more Steem transactions in the world than any other cryptocurrency.

It’s a social media cryptocurrency!

The first of it's kind, but there are already more starting to follow suit.
It will take over archaic, nefarious platforms like FB, Insta & Youtube within the next 5 years. (Remember what happened to Myspace and rather suddenly?)
When that time comes you and everybody else will be wondering how the heck you got suckered in by FB for so long.

Anyway, Steemit.com is so friggin’ awesome!
It’s the kind of forward thinking idea that intelligent people participate in.
Like most social media, it costs nothing. It will never cost you anything.
It is on the stock market so you can invest in it, if that’s you thing, but for me, I just like creating high quality content, sharing it and getting paid for my efforts.

At the moment I am earning a little bit more than a part-time wage…
It won’t be long before I’m earning a full-time wage from Steemit by just doing what you and I normally do. Post.

Here's the youtube link if the Dlive is glitching on yu:

My video is at DLive

Please make sure you vote for @pfunk, as witness here: https://steemit.com/~witnesses. Without him Open Mic would not be what it is, so he's a whole lotta awesomesauce!

Still Steemit hahhahah!!

But yeah true where else but in Steemit would I get to meet people like you and the rest of the Helpies.

I know it's steemit @maverickinvictus!!
This is a post I intend to share with my FB networks and want opinions from my Steemit colleagues...

I love this. Sorry for the short comment. I'm speechless.

Naw! Thanks so much spunky!
And thanks for retweeting it! Yay!

You're welcome (love the nickname "spunky" haha)

Top stuff, Nathan - testify!

I think you pretty much covered everything someone hearing about the idea for the first time would need to know. Maybe powering up could have been slipped in, or rather just the idea that as that as your contribution grows, so does your influence, so (in theory) do the rewards. I'm new here myself, getting ready to post what I consider to be good quality content - frequently - but just nosing around for the moment, finding my feet. Anyone who has an interest in Steemit succeeding should be thankful for posts like this, so good on you and thanks.

Saw this through @omitaylor's RT on Twitter, which I've re-retweeted in turn. Love your instrumentarium, btw, which I just saw in all its glory (well, except for the didgeridoos) in your Creation Station post.

Thanks so much @gussiefinknottle! I appreciate that heaps!
I didn't really want to get into the nitty-gritty of how Steemit best works to grow an account in this video. Powering Up is an important concept to grasp for a newbie. No doubt, but that's a video/blog post for people who've already joined.

The purpose of this video is for attracting the attention of an FB user that has never heard of Steemit ever before.

That's so cool that you saw this through Omi's retweet on twitter. She's friggin' awesome!

Yes! Don't hesitate any longer. Get posting asap. At least start by resteeming posts that you like so that you're supporting other content creators and generating some income flow and reputation to your account.
Commenting like you have here is key to building a network, but people aren't likely to follow you until you post some content to your blog, so they know what you stand for.
From that point you'll have the opportunity to be invited to some fun and powerful group communities here.

Keep in touch...
Blessings

Yep, point taken about reaching out to the outside world rather than preaching to the converted. My comment about powering up certainly wasn't meant as a criticism, I should make clear.

You nailed it with Omi. She's the best, and like I told her she's just the kind of (highly competent) glue that's needed to help bind this whole thing together if we're going to build it into the fantastic thing it could be. Not that it isn't already but, you know, there are some problems too.

I have to put one or two things in order (not least positioning myself for any crypto bull run :o)) but very soon now I'll be putting my strategy into action, which is to get writing some posts then start to upload them while writing others. Then work towards becoming a steemiteditor, though that's another story. Have been putting time into building what promise to be some really solid connections, but of course you're right, it's by posting that I'll start to grow.

Enough about me. Point is, this was really useful, exactly because it's designed to pull in people onto the platform from outside. Thanks for the super-friendly reply, and certainly hope to have more contact, not least because music is my main thing.

"Enough silly Nathan." Nevvaaahhhh. Resteeming because yessss.

Thanks so much, you angel being @paintingangels!
You even wrote "Never" in an Aussie accent!
Yesssss!
Haha!

She's all apples, mate!!!! (my hubby said that means everything is awesome in Aussie... is he right?) Are we all apples, mate?

Haha! Kewl!
“She’ll be apples, mate.” Is a more common term, but yes, that’s what it means - it’ll be all good or it’s all ok.
Hehe

How'd this go, Nathan? I've found steemit links tend to get shadowbanned on facebook, not sure if Mark's added dlive to the algorithm yet.

Yeah, it’s a great question to ask, @mattclarke mate. I was vaguely aware that fb might shadowban Steemit links so I used a YouTube link instead and made the rest of the post native on fb.
That way it could get seen.
That being said, it only got seen by a fraction of my normal fb audience, which means that there’s possibly a keyword shadowban also on even using the name Steemit in posts on fb.

A year from now, a friend is going to wonder why I didn't tell him about STEEM. He's going to go to my Facebook page and see dozens of posts that never appeared in his feed.
Then he's going to delete Facebook, and that's how we win :)

I love that line of thinking. I’ll be sure to keep up the Steemit blast on fb even more now with that in mind. thanks for that
It’s true. Our genuine fb connections are going to start thinking, “hey where’s _____? They’ve not posted in ages.” Then they check. “Oh those fb cunce!”
Haha

Not my first rodeo ;)

Super awesome Nathan, love it. Spread the worrrdddd!!!!!

Thanks so much lovely @amymya!
Bless ya <3

Steemit is rewarding. they have set a new standard- Now, because of their reward system any social media/community that will be introduced will be forced to pay users for participation; if they want to succeed.

Hi @nathankaye, i have followed you. please do follow me @itsystems. i needed to reach out to steemit users

It may seem like a great idea to self-vote your comments. Hey, you get all the value back and you get sent to the top of the user's page! Isn't that nice? Well, all the reasons Nathan gave you not to do that are valid ones, and I'm about to give you another: people who are a lot less nice than he is will come along and flag away the value of your vote. So not only don't you get it, neither do the nice people you might have voted on if you were valuing their content. You have 77% self-votes, so you're clearly not approaching the concept of voting as a way to reward other users and grow the community. Please change.

Gah! I almost followed you from your first comment, until I saw this comment and saw that you gave yourself 100% upvotes (but that you're not really giving upvotes to others).
A piece of advice.
The follow for follow type of comments are frowned upon on this platform and this platform doesn't need more people who are mostly interested in paying themselves rather than making great content and supporting other people's content.
When you make a comment, make sure the comment is interesting, relevant (in that it shows that you actually watched/read/listened to the post) and doesn't ask for a follow back.
Why?
Because when you ask for a follow back you expose your ulterior motives for commenting in the first place. It's disingenuous. And besides, you should only follow someone if you are genuinely interested in them and the content they make, not because you want something in return.
Having a large following here that doesn't care about you is completely pointless and won't earn you more money either.
Not only that, but you will be completely ignored by scouts of great communities that really help you grow your account. I am a scout, but I blacklist people who demand follow for follow or upvote for upvote.

I hope this advice helps you on your path here in Steemit.
Blessings
