Lost dog returned after 5 years

in #dog2 days ago

When i went on a search for my usual lottery propaganda and the usual biased political arguments that go absolutely nowhere I was actually kind of happy to find this puff piece about a woman and her dog getting reunited after 5 years apart. It was all thanks to the microchip implant that a lot of places in the world including most US States, require for pet ownership.

When I first heard about these chips I thought maybe they were tracking devices but then I reminded myself to not be retarded and think that something like that would require batteries and obviously we can't implant that into a dog.

The chips are just ID chips and have a very limited range as far as scanning them is concerned so that is perhaps why it took so long for this Southern California woman to get reunited with her dog.

With so much awful in the world right now it is kind of nice to see stories like this although I have a lot of questions for Michele Bluestone, the owner of this little dog.

She claims that the dog managed to get out of her backyard and disappear and later said she "just assumed it was eaten by coyotes" and she claims she put up fliers and looked "everywhere".

I don't know if I believe that and I think that giving her tod the straight back might have been a little bit of a mistake especially when a supposed beloved pet manages to escape and get so far away that you had no idea where to lok for it for 5 years. Given how basically everything is covreed in CCTV these days as well I don't really believe her story of turning over ever stone.

I guess I'll just leave that alone and get off my high horse. I suppose it is possible.

The dog's name is Lola and they were reunited one day when the dog was brought in to a shelter and one of the first things they do in a place like that is scan for ID chips. When Michelle went to go and confirm ownership the dog hat overgrown and matter hair, was malnourished, and had to have several teeth removed for i don't know, dog reasons.

I hope that the attention that has been cast on Michelle putting her in the news and what not will give her the dopamine rush that so many people seek these days and encourage her to look after her pet a bit better this time. That does seems to me like it would be an "inside doggie" and I hope that is the case this time.

I hope I just have Michelle pegged wrong and that it was genuinely a mistake but mostly I have the impression that Lola was as treasured as the owner claims.

Good news I suppose. Of course since this story was out of California all of the articles around it were hit-pieces on conservative politicians and cheering for Iran mixed in with a couple of propaganda pieces about how everyone wins the lottery and all you have to do is play!

Congratulations Michelle. We better not see your name in the news related to animals ever again.
