The dog-scissors arrive. Soon, I will be trying my hand at doggo haircuts
After our last trip to the doggy hair salon and seeing the huge fear that my dog had in her when I brought her there and most importantly, the sad look of betrayal on her face as she was carried away from me, never breaking eye-contact... I came to the conclusion that this was going to be the last time I take her there and put he through those several hours of doggy-torture.
Yes, they are nice to her there and I am sure they do a much better job than I can, but this doesn't change the fact that Nadi is old, and I am trying to make her final years as comfortable as possible.

The last time I cut a bit of her hair off I did it with kitchen scissors. I thought they would be sharp enough because I use them to cut frozen meat but in the end they were the wrong tools for the job and it took a while. Nadi though, was patient and allowed me to finish without any fighting. I would say she was actually quite happy to do it because she knew there were going to be treaty-pies afterwards. I'm guessing at the salon they don't give her treats and honestly, if they just did, that could probably change the entire system.
So far I haven't used the scissors very much but when I did they are very sharp and are effortless to use. Now I just need to find a decent pair of clippers and we will start to play a new game of "let's see how ridiculous we can make my dog look." Nadi doesn't care what she looks like so as log as she doesn't have to go to the salon, she will be happy.

Speaking of happy doggies: How about a Sunday outing with dad to have a roast pork dinner? She stayed right there in her chair awaiting the little bits of food I gave her from my plate. She never made a sound or a fuss of any sort. She is so well behaved.
I think at times she doesn't understand why I don't share more of it with her but is is for her own good. She has quite a sensitive stomach and even though she absolutely loves any bites of human food I will give her, she will throw up later if I overdo it.
I found a picture of her hair from a few years ago and I think her current look is a big improvement.

A while back I wanted her to grow out her ear hair because I thought it was unique. This is probably one of the only "bad" pictures that exists of Nadi and we went too far with the cuts. These days I keep her ear hair short because she dips her head into anything that she eats or sniffs and I don't know if you have ever tried to get dried rice out of a dogs's ear hair before but trust me, it is NOT an easy process. It kind of becomes one with her.
Once the clippers arrive we will enter a new era with Nadi as I have only once ever given her a full haircut and because of the quality (bad quality) of the clippers that I had at that time it took 2 days to finish the job. This time I am going to spend a bit more and get something professional. I think it will be a learning process and I will get better at it over time. Thankfully, one of my friends was a dog groomer in a previous job, so I can get some pointers on what to do.
It's clippers... how hard can it be?
I guess we are about to find out!
