Down with Divine: Nurse's Office
The rest of the trip to the nurse's office was thankfully uneventful. Had to wait my turn but that was normal. Two students pretending they had the flu or whatever to get out class for a while. I feel them, but there are only so many times you can use that excuse.
"You're not sick Divine." Nurse Paige was quite adamant.
"No. I'm not." This was going to be fun.
"Then what are you here for?"
"I took a dodgeball to the eye and it is still blurry."
"Okay. How long ago was this?" She went into full diagnostics mode. Not that she cared. She had to be able to say the school did everything they could in case of a lawsuit. It wasn't the first time I had been here with an injuring. It was the first time it had not been done intentionally. So, that was new. She asked more questions as she shined a bright light off and on in both my eyes comparing.
"So, who did this to you?"
"It was an accident during a game of dodgeball, I missed the block."
"Are you sure? Don't just say that." She stared at me dubiously.
"Yes. Ask Mr. Bronski."
"Okay, There doesn't seem anything seriously wrong. I'm going to get you an eye patch in case that you will need to wear until you see a doctor."
Then she left the room. She was gone for a while. But she came back.
"Hold still." She gently placed the eye patch over my eye.
"You can go now." I strolled out of the office. There a whole new batch of desperate pretenders waiting to see the nurse. "Oh and Mr. Divine you need to report to the principal's office immediately."
"I will SEE my way there now." Hoping that sounded like my least sarcastic voice.
Nurse Paige's face scrunched up. The one you make when you hear a dumb dad joke and just want the other person to be serious. Time to face the music, though it was going to be more like a musical drive-by.
"I'm on my way now."
