  • Maybe. I'll wait for the feature to be launched, before deciding.

Don't know yet. At the moment playing steemmonsters when I can't sleep or feeling sick. Don't know if I can still play whenever I want while in a guild? Missed a bit about this new feature I assume?

You have a point. It might not be as beneficial to join a guild if you're not an active player. A lot of the guilds will require some level of activity because unlike other games, the guilds system for the Splinterlands is designed so that active players can contribute more to the guild's advancement. Aside from just contributing DECs, for example, players can also contribute scrolls, which they can only get by completing their daily quests.

I had Team Possible and Neoxian guild to join even before the feature was launched. It was tough to choose but I ended choosing Neoxian, partly because the members were all out tagging me on discord to join immediately after the launch while Team Possible took about a day to setup their guilds ☺

I had the same experience. I had planned to join contestkings, but I couldn't find it in the list when I was looking for a guild. Then, I received an invitation from peakmonsters, so I joined them, instead.

I'm currently collecting DEC as most guilds are expecting the members to help with the upgrading of the buildings. To fully upgrade a guild to Level 10 each member will need to spend over 90K DEC on average. That's about $108 at current prices and the number could go even higher. It's better to be early as I see great potential for the future of @steemmonsters. CCG are a massive niche.

True, DEC Tokens will really play a huge role in the guilds system. You're right every member needs to contribute 90K DECs to get the 2.71 Million DECs necessary to get a guild to the max level at Level 10. And with DECs going up in prices recently, that just got more expensive over the last week.

Thankfully, there are some guilds where membership dues are sponsored for you. @peakmonsters, for example, has a "Premiere Guild" where they pay for all the DEC needed for upgrades. The guild is at Level 8 now, all paid for by peakmonsters. The catch is that you have to be a user of the peakmonsters.com marketplace and you need to be a Champions League player. You can also be demoted to their lower, non-sponsored guild if another player beats you in the rankings.

It's all good, though because they're building their lower-ranked, non-sponsored league to be a pretty nice place, too. It's also their way of encouraging active players and eliminating "drama" within the league.

I'm a Senior Member of the @contestkings guild. You just pay 10 installments of 10K DEC and you are in. We have 6 positions available so far. You need to pay the first 10K DEC in the first 24 hours Read more about it:

Having never played a game like Steem Monsers before I've sure how Guilds will work. But from what I've seen so far it looks like another opportunity for those at the top to get more. i'm not excited about them at all but will wait and see how they pan out before deciding what I want to do from here.

That's an interesting point. I've never really thought of it that way. You're right, it has the tendency to work out more for those who are already excelling in the game, but I guess it would depend on what kind of guild you join.

In my experience though, no matter what game you play the guilds will always come into play. So, a lot of times, it will be better to be in one. It's still to early to tell, but looking at the way guilds are designed for the Splinterlands, though, I think the main thing that players need is activity. As someone else has mentioned, it doesn't seem to be designed for casual players.

  • I've got something else to say...

Already a member of Contest Kings!
I thought you were joining Contest Kings also?

I was going to, but I couldn't find it initially. After a bit, I was invited to the @peakmonsters guild, so I joined there instead. I'm a big fan of their rental market, so I figured why not.

Bugger... Would have been good to have you in our guild.

As a mod for @contestkings, I will be a part of their guild. I think guilds will add a new level of excitement and interaction to the game. As everything in this game, however, they are an investment (and a long term one at that) and probably not for casual players.

True. Guilds in the Splinterlands are an investment, both in terms of the DECs required and activity levels. I can't imagine a casual player staying in a guild if they can't contribute at least the scrolls from daily quests.

Yes I am waiting for guilds as it will make the game more competitive and “social”.
This should bring new players and new “guild quests and contests”.
As it becomes team competitive, I think people might spend more money on cards in the end, which is great for us owners 😉.

You're right about the social and competitive part. The guild tavern is a very useful addition to the game. It makes communicating with other players easier. And as early as now, players are already preparing for guild wars, so it's pretty exciting.

I think the guilds are a very interesting innovation in the game. Working together to achieve something I find immensely important in games. The ability to form guilds and play together will make a big impact on the game in the long term. It was a good idea to introduce this. I'm curious to see what the developers still have for us

Yeah, I'm excited too. I think this can only make the game better.

A guild is always beneficial to all as more heads are better than one.

My take is there should be guild battles where each member of the guild with choice of summoner and monster. The more similar the type the more bonus during battle. This will make players not active play more when apart of a guild. Thanks!

That's an interesting take on Guild Wars. I don't know what format guild wars will follow, but that's definitely something to look out for. No matter the format, I agree that it will encourage players to be more active in the game.
