Why are you still on the Steem Blockchain?

There have been a lot of fiasco surrounding the most recent hard forks. Many predicted the final doom of the platform.

I did not paint this painting, but it is the funniest thing I still have from #OldSteem: the misaligned portrait of @elear. Much like the misaligned incentives of the platform for the longest time.

If you ever visit @arcange's page for statistics, you'd notice a few interesting things. A mass exodus hasn't happened yet. We still have about the same number of "active" participants on the chain. The only noticeable difference I could discern was the median payout lowering. Well, consider the new curve for rewards, that is not surprising.

If you check out @lukestokes' exchange activity report, same thing. You could see that there are still more withdrawals than deposits. The continual downward trend on the prices reflects that.

A cultural shift seems to be happening and people started to curate more on the platform. I don't mean only upvotes, but downvotes. You have whales actually throwing their weight around, especially on trending. Some dish out downvotes on the largest self-voter on the chain. Some stopped "account preservation posts" and started honest voting. They even advocate others to do the same. Some carried on against abuse with greater efficacy.

I have read so many complaints and sadness over the changes. I cannot say they do not have their points. I have also noted praises for those changes. The landscape of trending changed. Whether it is a net positive is up to debate. It is much harder to reward comments now unless you have large stake.

This is only the beginning. The question then becomes: is it too little too late?

Casting the negativity aside, many (or is it handful?) still remain on the platform.

What is/are your reason(s) for staying on the Steem Blockchain?

Are you here to ride it to the end? Or, will you stay for the rise from ashes?

At some point people on the outside have to decide they like what they see and start buying STEEM to get in on the action.

You know, @anthonyadavisii and I have discussed about stopping our stake at entry dolphin level and go from there. In reality, I think we have powered up more since.

I stayed for you 😍♥️

Curation is definitely making a comeback with the EIP changes. This should start attracting good new content creators. I also think we need time to let things settle down a bit. First impressions are quite good.

We can hope. And you are right, only time will tell.
