Doodles, Drawings, Pen and Ink!

in #drawing7 years ago

So, I thought I would drop a quick couple of pics in here to give a wee bit of insight into the process of creating my art.

Probably a bit boring to most of you, but hopefully some will find it interesting.

First up, 'Inspiration'.
This can come in any shape or form. Usually for me I will see a great view, a lovely animal, or some pic somewhere that will trigger a 'Ooooo, that would make a fab image' moment.
If out and about and camera handy I will take a snap or two and refer to it for my illustrations.

In the case of this image, I had taken holidays on the Isle of Skye, and snapped many a pic of the mountains, so this is what I used for the background. The deer was from a snap I took years ago when driving round a safari park in the West Midlands. The girl is made up from various different sketches of faces and hairstyle in my notebooks. Had to refer to costume designs for the vintage outfit.

First thing for me to do is combine all my reference images into one picture with a pleasing layout. After that comes the sketch proper. Then when I am happy with the look of it, I will transfer the image to cardstock and get my pens out to ink it up ready for scanning and digitising. This is the inking process below:

When all is done I get to release my image onto my Etsy store for people to purchase, print and colour!

So, there you have a quick insight. Hope you like it!
