I got to hang out with Brad Pitt last night

in #dreams2 hours ago

Don't get excited. I didn't really run into Brad Pitt and we do not know one another. I just had a very lucid dream sequence where I was at some sort of woodland resort and another one of the guests that was also staying there was Brad Pitt.

I have some pretty crazy dreams and celebrities are not often a part of them and I find it very strange that Pitt was the person who infiltrated my dreams.

I really don't understand what dictates my dreams because while I am a fan of his movies I am not a huge follower of his work. I like him a normal amount. I have never purchased any of his films and when a movie comes out with him in it, I normally will relegate it to being something that I will catch when it comes out on streaming. Even F1, which I had heard was excellent and something that is best experienced in a cinema environment, was something that I just waited until it was available online and watched it there. That movie was pretty good but certainly not something that I believe is a "must see" sort of thing.

In the dream Brad was just hanging out and doing what you would expect in a sort of nature vacation sort of spot but he was also being hounded constantly by the press and being bothered by a bunch of other people that were staying there. In the dream I played it cool and just hung out as if he was any other person and I think that is why virtual Pitt was ok with me hanging around.

Of course the fact that this entire sequence was taking place inside my brain kind of put me in charge of what was going on.

When I dream about anything in particular and actually remember it, I normally want to look it up and see what the "experts" have to say about why a person dreams about a particular thing. Normally this diagnosis is so vague that it could apply to anyone, and therefore I kind of place dream-interpretation psychology on a shelf of relevance right alongside astrology.

But it is still kind of interesting to see what they "experts" think about certain things.

So let's have a look, shall we?

I really enjoy the evaluation that the experts have about this particular topic because they well and truly cover all the possible bases here

Dreaming of a celebrity may point to:

  • subconscious desires to be famous or to befriend them
  • a need for your brain to work out a current issue
    underlying issues related to self-esteem
  • nothing at all

Now take a look at that and tell me if you think that applies to basically any possible person that has ever lived. Hell, it would apply to Brad Pitt if Brad Pitt was dreaming of Brad Pitt. What a load of nonsense.

I haven't seen a movie with Pitt in it for quite some time, I haven't so much as spoken about Brad Pitt in the recent past, and like I say, I enjoy his films a normal amount. I tend to think that most of Pitt's work is very selective acceptance of roles to the point where all of his films are going to be well-received to keep him A-list, but not challenging enough to be Oscar-worthy. I think that Pitt's agent plays it safe and secures him medium-sized paychecks and the dude just always goes with bigger budget films that are almost always all-but-guaranteed to have a good return on them.

I put him in a category with some others like George Clooney or Leonardo DiCaprio where the "good films" that they are in would have been just as good if someone else had done it.

I don't place a lot of real-world importance on my dreams and most of the time they don't have any real relevance to anything that is going on in my actual life. I can't imagine any situation where Brad Pitt has been some sort of idol of mine. In fact, I developed a bit of a hatred towards him when I was in college because one of my girlfriends at the time was absolutely obsessed with him.

In the dream he liked hanging out with me because I just treated him like another person. I didn't ask for his autograph or bug him to give me contact information. I didn't try to take a selfie with him and when it was time for me to go I just left and it was him that asked me "hey, you wanna hang out tomorrow?" and I said something snarky back like "Sheesh, I guess so Brad Pitt, you are kind of needy aren't you?"

I was joking of course, if real Brad Pitt actually wanted to hang out I think that most people would jump at the opportunity.

We didn't do anything particularly amazing in the dream, we just hung out and drank some beers and I got to listen in on some of his conversations because his phone was blowing up the entire time. I guess that is what my subconscious believes that the lives of celebrities are like.

I wasn't disappointed when I woke up and Nadi was snoring next to me. I was just indifferent. I am not all starstruck with celebrities and I have actually gotten to meet a few of them and what they say about "never actually meet your heroes" well, I kind of think that is true. Most people in their positions have a PR team that is carefully managing the impression that the public has of them but if you actually meet them they turn out to be either rather boring, or they are super egotistical and kind of jerks. That was the impression I got when I actually met Matthew McConaughey anyway.

If I start to dream about Brad Pitt regularly I will start to get a bit worried though. Have you ever dreamed about hanging out with a celebrity? Let's talk about it!
