DJI Mavic Air - Drone Review
DJI is a small company located in China that has over the years developed a strong influence in the drone market. They became known for their long-ranged signal and extraordinary builded-in sport cameras. After the Mavic Pro the DJI's administration has made another excelent job by building another drone but this time cheaper.
Features
The concept of the Mavic air is based on his older brother Mavic Pro, that is why it keeps almost all of his compact size and the way it works but this time they have gone a step foward, it has become even more compact.
The DJI's avoiding object technology has really became a masterpeace and it is nearly imposible to crash the Mavic air but of course everything that flies can fall down so don't try to crash it intentionally just to show off. They have builed-in the avoiding objects all over the drone, except above of it to improve the quality. It comes with the new wind resistence now and can handle wind up to 35kmh/22mph.
I must be honest I was a bit skeptical about that but after few videos I have seen it working under some strong winds I have started in beliving in that technology now. Maybe some of you won't like the idea of him working with wi-fi singnals instead of radio waves Mavic Pro has used but you have nothing to worry about.
But everything is not so great as it might seam, the compactness od the air comes with a price, it can fly now in a 4 km/2.5 miles which is almost double shorter then the Pro but to be honest, I would never let my drone fly so far away from me. For those who are not afraid to fly so far Air can always come back with a home button even without you flying it. Even if you loose signal it will come back on the point from where you launched this small rocket in the air.
Air keept the Pro's feature of object tracking so you can take a walk, ride a bike or swim and he will take excelent footage of you in 4k resoluton. But even that has improved, now the air comes with the new hand remote technology with which you can contol your drone with just your hand, and the builded-in camera stabilizator makes your video even more smooth then before.
The controller misses few buttons which Pro's controller had but nothing extreme, and now you can remove the sticks from it so you don't need to worry will you brake them somewhere or sit on it by accident, everything just to make it even more smaller and compact. DJI has doing really an excelent job in that branch.
Specifications
My personal opinion about this drone is that DJI has successfuly created what they wanted with this drone. An even more compact, flexible, fun, low budget drone which is not ashamed of any big boy that want to compeat with him for the price of only about $750. Except the battery life and the fly range I really don't see why would someone give $300 more for the Pro when you have everything you need right here, in this small rocket ready to capture some awsome footage of you and your landscape.
