Flickering Candles | Spoken Word Poetry
As you reminisce, in your favorite armchair, Flickering candles are burning everywhere, Shadows of a lifetime, memories which we keep, Time honored ghosts, dreaming whilst we sleep.
Childhood friends, are very often here,
Calming your nerves, relieving you of fear,
Images of innocence are disappearing fast,
Acquaintances and family, who have sadly passed.
Running in green fields, making daisy chains.
Sheltering in hedgerows, away from summer rains,
When you held each other for that forbidden kiss,
Memories of a romance, searching for some bliss
Promises you made, are safely stored away,
Secrets of a lifetime, things which you would say,
Trust in God the maker, let Him be your guide,
Words that underlined, both passion and pride.
Time honored ghosts, dreaming whilst we sleep,
Shadows of a lifetime, memories which we keep,
Flickering candles are burning everywhere,
As you reminisce from your faded armchair.
