Singers are all egocentric. That's not much of a statement, the same can be said about artists in general.

By becoming the center of attention, you become a receptacle of energy, it's beautiful and insane all at once.
We feed ourselves with the energy of the listeners/audience.

And in some extent we all do it subconsciously, when your boss shouts at you for example. he is actually psychically feeding on you like a vampire.Yum yum...

For me the idea of a Remix using someone else's voice is absurd, as I am not the center of attention anymore.

So when @warudo challenged me to do "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran, I was planning on singing the song, as I know it well, I even have a whole looping act that I do for live performance, it was easy peasy.

But it was not really challenging , as what I do is very close to the original song, and the whole point of my #songrequest is to transform the song, sculpt it into something else.

So i decided to rework on the arrangement of the song, keeping the same tempo.
My inspiration for the song is "Still Dre" by Dr Dre, with the trademark piano intro .

Virtual Instruments: Groove Agent Drums "anna Hop", Halion Anna synth lead, Grand Piano A , subsonic bass, synth bass 1
Real Instrument : Ed Sheeran's vocals

I wanted the overall feeling to be a bit less aggressive than Dre's track, so i added a bunch(THAT MUCH) of reverb on it, to give that soft hip hop vibe to it from the early 90's like Warren G.

Then I had to rework different Drums for it as the original has that Ragga Dancehall vibe with these staccato snares like in "They Don't Care About Us" by Michael Jackson.

My idea is was to go the complete opposite way by having some dirty minimalist Hip-Hop style, with my favorite thing in the world which is "Underwater Drums".(you suppress the high frequencies)

The tempo is like the original 95 bpm , I kept it that way because it's groovy there.
While I was recording my vocal takes, I realized it would be a good idea to have the original vocals of Ed Sheeran somewhere in the song, as a wink.

I eventually found them here

I import them, and stack them on the top of my production finding the right time mark...AND BOOOOOOM!

To be honest,it was a perfect fit, I was dancing like a fool in my living room which is a good sign.
I kept the original structure, because it works very well.

So ladies and gents, this is my first (and maybe last) REMIX ever!!!!!
