Full transcript:
We begin today reporting on the efforts of Steemit's premier charity organization, @YouAreHope. Using the blockchain for charitable causes has become increasingly common across Steemit. Just last week, we were able to raise over $425 for my wife's classroom thanks to the generosity of Steemians from around the globe, so I always enjoy reading about great charity efforts. This week, thanks to YouAreHope, STEEM Engine passenger @malos10, a resident of Venezuela, shared an update on how he is using STEEM to meet the basic needs of the struggling population of his home country. This specific effort provided funds to donate over 200 kilograms of food, as well as personal hygiene products to an orphanage. @malos10 includes many photographs from the distribution of the goods, so I hope you'll take the time to see how @youarehope has impacted the world, and consider supporting their efforts in future fundraisers!
Also hailing from Venezuela, passenger @lunaticpandora continues a series on the flags of the world with the flag of Argentina. Throughout the series, @lunaticpandora has offered information on the history of each flag, as well as explanations of symbols and colors and a few little known facts about each country. This post offers some great info about Argentina, including the origin of the country's name, and some surprising resources the country produces. If you're curious about the flags of the world and learning a small amount about a new country, I encourage you to follow along as @lunaticpandora continues alphabetically through the countries of the world and their flags!
Our next post leads us across the globe to central Europe, where STEEM Engine passenger @kokuryo recounts his 16-day trip to Switzerland in 2014. Kokuryo takes us through the details of his journey from the planning stages to his favorite parts of the trip and includes many beautiful photographs from his time there. You'll see historical architecture, unique bridges, and even some friendly cows when you check out this post, so if you are planning a trip to Switzerland any time soon, be sure to consider adding all of Kokuryo's stops to your list.
In news this week, passenger @alexdory reports on SpaceX's latest efforts to send a rocket to Mars. The test flight of the Falcon Heavy rocket is unique because instead of a typical dummy payload, the rocket contains an original Tesla roadster, which will forever orbit the sun while playing David Bowie's Space Oddity through its sound system. In yet another fun and interesting way, SpaceX is making private space travel and exploration closer to becoming reality. If you enjoy following the private company space race, I encourage you to read the entirety of @alexdory's post, as it has plenty of information on the rocket and SpaceX's recent advancements in space travel.
Finally today, I want to highlight the writing and audio-based efforts of @tinypaleokitchen, a relatively new passenger on the STEEM Engine. A member of The Writers' Block, Tiny has recorded a revised audiobook version of one of her first fictional short stories she shared on Steemit. The short, entitled "When the Tables are Turned," is a solemn look into the lives of hospital personnel. If you enjoy this story, Tiny has several others available to read and listen, so I hope you'll give her blog a visit. As a podcaster, it encourages me to see other Steemians pursuing spoken word content, so I hope you'll all take the time to listen to Tiny's story and consider writing fiction of your own.
For today's Featured Station, we stop at The Writers' Block, the group that @tinypaleokitchen and many other STEEM Engine passengers are a part of. Led by Steemit witness @Gmuxx, The Writers' Block has a team dedicated to helping Steemians improve on their writing skills. If you're interested in learning more about fiction writing, or just want to polish your writing in general, head over to The Writers' Block Discord server, and you'll be welcomed with open arms. If you'd like to join, look for the link in the description of this podcast, or visit their group account at steemit.com/@thewritersblock!

OMGG GOSH MY FRIEND <3 much lovee from venezuela <3
thanks for include my efforts on this great episode <3
i wish you could visit us one day on the #youarehope radio so we could talk
You are very welcome! I'll have to check out the schedule for the radio show. I'd love to drop in and chat sometime. I also hop into @ShadowsPub's PYPT segment on Thursdays most weeks, so you can catch me there, too!
It was a pleasure to highlight the great things you've done in your country using STEEM. I especially like the ones where you hand out arepas. When I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, there was a fantastic Venezuelan restaurant that served arepas, and it was one of my favorite places to go. I haven't had one in such a long time. I need to learn how to make them myself!
Thanks a lot for featuring me! I am sure I can provide you with even better articles in the future. I have always only contributed original works and highly documented and sourced articles. This is a pleasure for me, as I contributed for Quora and Reddit before.
I really wish to inspire more children or even adults to follow science as a path in life. This will be what will thrust us forward. Thanks for the exposure again, Ethan!
It was my pleasure to feature your post today!
I'm so glad we have members like you over at @thesteemengine, and I look forward to reading more of your posts. I personally had no idea that SpaceX was sending a Tesla into space until I read your post, so I thought more people would enjoy it. I'm also a big fan of Ziggy Stardust, so this post intrigued me even more.
Thanks again for sharing, and I wish you the best on your Steemit journey!
I know this is what I felt like it when I was talking to my friends. None of them did! This made me write it in part. And if you don't know a lot about SpaceX BFR ( Big Fu..., ehm.. Falcon Rocket - according to Musk himself :D ) , I can guarantee it will be even better than this article. Cheers!
Thanks for featuring me! you have inspired me to keep on working harder and harder to improve my quality!
You're very welcome! You've got a great series so far, so I wish you success in the future! Let me know if you need any help with anything.
Thanks for offering me your support :-D I will keep your offert for support in mind in case I have any troubles with steem! I'm following you now, looking forward to more of your content too!
No problem at all. It's always nice to have resources to consult whenever issues arise. I have been thankful for many pieces of advice and help along the way, so I'm glad I can offer mine to you.
Why do we not have you doing this on the SteemStar Network, Ethan, hello? :D
Hey @sircork! I know I mentioned this to you when I first started it, but it's not really on a regular schedule, so I'm not sure how we could fit it in! I'd love it to be featured on there, though!
It's very pro, very NPR, well done, that's not easy production.
Can you produce an mp4 with some sort of static or animated backdrop? Id play it in the replay feed between live shows quite happily.
That's what the YouTube videos are. I'd be happy to send along the mp4s. Just let me know your preferred delivery method.
I actually have a way for you to deposit them via a simple ftp process and they will automagically play in rotation until you overwrite it with another one of the same name, hit me up in discord sometime when you have one to run.
Sure thing. I'll message you soon! Thanks for the opportunity!
Great work, and thanks for transcribing this! So often I'm sat with my laptop on the sofa while my wife watches tv and I can't pop dtube vids or podcasts on. Really appreciate the extra effort!
As I have divulged in the past, I actually write the script first and read it during the podcast, with only a few minor variations, so it's no trouble at all to include the transcript! I'm glad someone makes use of it! Thank you for supporting the podcasts!
Ah I see, well it is certainly used here! Thanks again :)
excellent! turned on dsound and now I'm listening to you! :-D Great Work!
Thanks a lot for taking a listen! I've really enjoyed producing these podcasts!
Love these! Yeah, the 16 day trip in Switzerland! Wow!! We went there a few years ago and spent a few hours in Interlaken...then back on the train. :) Anyway, these are lots of fun and I'm glad you do them.
Switzerland sounds nice. We had some friends who went last summer, and they said it was beautiful, but everything was very expensive. Perhaps someday I'll get around to traveling there! Thank you for visiting and listening to the podcast!
I really like what you are doing here on your page Ethan! Keep it up as I will be continuing to listen :)
I appreciate it! Thank you very much for stopping by to listen!
It looks like you're new to Steemit! I'm curious as to how you found out about my podcast. I see you have an intro post, so I'll go check it out and leave you some helpful links there!
Great choices Ethan, seems like you are becoming very comfortable behind the microphone as well. Enjoying these very much, carry on.
I'm becoming more and more comfortable with it as I get great responses like yours to each episode. Thank you for your support. I'll have to get by your blog and catch up on the daily doses.
You should be more comfortable, you are a natural for it as best as I can tell.
More blog is always open, stop anytime you like. Kind of like a cheap diner , food is not that great, but it is always available.
I'll keep that in mind. Always open. I like it.
I've enjoyed the podcasting. I'm thinking of branching out with my audio skills, and I've got some ideas in the works. I'll be sure to let you know if any of them ever come to fruition.
I don't usually listen to podcasts but this is clear, upbeat and is working a message to support the whole world in practical ways. It's like a Steemit curation news channel. Your voice is clear and cool on recording and you do really well to promote passengers on @thesteemengine. You really do get around. I agree with your comments about verbal content and I will check out writer's block discord.
Hey mineopoly! Thank you for your kind words!
I'm glad you enjoy listening to my voice. I have definitely enjoyed producing these podcasts and coming up with the best ways to describe each post I curate.
I hope you'll keep coming back for future episodes, and I'm sure you'll enjoy checking out The Writers' Block!
Writers block was a real nice discord. I wonder if there is an app that can alert me when posts like this or other friends post so I can follow you easier.
