Just one thing I noticed from the post:

What happens if I don't have an account?
A starter kit is needed to be purchased prior to accepting any gifts.

Not really. Anyone with a STEEM account has an account at the Steem Monsters site too. The starter pack is required to be able to buy booster packs and to take part in tournaments, but not for receiving gifts. All the cards I have were received as gifts, even though I don't have the starter pack yet. All I had to do was login with my Steemit user and posting key.
