I guess it makes sense now that I think about it, but I'd never thinking of painting from bone structure up. Very interesting stuff.

well, I don't normally paint like this, it was a demo to demonstrate how I see the head and how I mentally construct head structure

What a gorgeous portrait! So interesting watching it come to life as you add layers. I love that you roughed out the face by actually painting the skull as the base - I am going to have to try this technique the next time I'm doing a figure drawing. (I've always just drawn a basic head map - the outline of the head shape, the eye line, and the vertical centre line.)
