RE: Too much advertising in steemit ! I'm shocked ! 😲
Several times steemit has run away with my processing power.
Running a processor at 100% until i close the tab.
This never happened before adverts.
I do not know what the cause, but i don't like it, and especially since it is a website i need to put private keys into.
Wow, that's really strange. How can they access the processing power ? That maybe even dangerous somehow. I know that if many ports are open ( it's like a way we access the internet ) it's easy to hack that pc. I will make sure that I'm closing steemit page when I'm away from now. Thanks for letting me know.
Basically ALL adverts are javascript.
So, it could be as inane as a bugged do-loop.
It just runs and runs and runs.
It could be a bitcoin miner, there have been many imbedded in adverts, games and even wifi access buttons.
It could be trying to hack my computer, or hack someone else's computer.
You can do all kinds of things with javascript and you are relying on your browser to keep it from affecting your computer.
Not only me. Most steemians don't know about that maybe. It should be written somewhere for public to know. Maybe in faq of steemit. But maybe we already accepted some terms and that's written there and they can't be blamed. But I don't really know. I'm just a regular steemian who likes steem blockchain and creating on it. I understand finally why most old steemians don't like to use steemit. I will do my best to move to dapps like busy.org and steempeak.com.
That could be a problem with your browser or pc, not the Steemit page itself. You should try to run an antivirus or something if you're under windows...
On my laptop under Linux and movil browser (android) I have not a single issue so far...

Under linux i have had this problem 3 times on the steemit page.
That is why i know which thing was using up an entire processor.
As @clixmoney said... We have to try inform about this issue.... Just in case there could be a problem with it.
Don't you mind if I make a post addressing the problem and asking if there was any other people experiencing the same problem? It would be only for the Spanish community... Maybe I could make it notice with one of the admins of @cervantes and reach out the Steemit Inc. people...

I think that will be great. I still see 5 banners in my page now. Really getting me crazy.
go for it
OK, it just happened again, but this time steemit was using 50% of my processor.
Not, 46% or 70%, but 50%.
So, that means that some javascript was throttling itself.
Unless firefox suddenly implemented throttling per tab, that is different than yesterday.
Even 50% is a lot I think.
100% for a few seconds is not a lot for a web page with lots of stuff on it.
But, 50% for a minute is not the web page loading.
Nor is it a run-away process.
