In his Josh Talk, Gautam Raj Anand, founder of Hubhopper, India, talks about 3 stories that completely changed his perception of life. These stories of courage, success, perseverance, and passion helped him muster the clarity that he always lacked in.
Working as a Senior Risk Analyst at Barclays, Gautam used to hate his job. But a scene from a movie completely changed his perception. Gautam realized that you are just 20 Seconds away from taking that life-changing decision, from taking that leap of faith. He quit his job and started his own venture, Hubhopper, India's largest platform for Podcasts and Audio Content.
He goes on to narrate the second story then. While hiring for Hubhopper, he tells the story of a guy named Rahul whom he has hired. He comes to know that Rahul travels a total of 8 hours in a day, from office to his home, just to see his mother for an hour. He was gifted a second-hand laptop by his brother and is a self-learned coder. Gautam learned the meaning of perseverance and consistent hard work and his notion of judging people just on the basis of face value changed completely. He prompts people not to be restricted by their myopia of the notion of who a genius is.
The third story takes place when Gautam was attending a Forbes summit in Israel, where he met a bunch of extraordinary people from elite universities like Yale, Havard, etc. who were bragging about what they have been up to. He then stumbles upon a person who plans on sending a probe out in the space, to discover life on Mars and Ganamite. Gautam was awe-struck and realized that a successful person holds humility and gratitude.
