Should you still tip a shitty server at a restaurant?
They say servers live off of the tips you give them, not their hourly wage. Most people often forget that as a patron, we rely on the server to provide us a top quality experience.
Then why is it that some people expect you to tip above 15% no matter what?

Agree 100%! I tip 20% as a rule, if the service is good. Your paying for a “service” when you tip, in my opinion. If waiter/waitress can not properly take take care of your needs, because they had a larger party for example, maybe they shouldn’t be waiting tables.
Generous tips should always be earned.
Shitty serves should always be on patio duty as punishment.
Very well.. informative article thanku

❓Question❔
Did you get a chance to watch the entire video?
If so, what did you think of my new intro/outro and transitions?
I say the tip should be based on the service and price. If it’s a local dive and you get a cheap beer you should almost always tip 15%+ but if you’re at a steakhouse and the waiter is shit tip 10% or something. That steakhouse tip is going to be a decent amount that some people might work hours for so if it wasn’t deserved I say feel free to knock it down a bit.

Thank you very much for providing your perspective.
So, I take it that you would never drop a tip down to $0 no matter how bad the experience was?
I did it once but the waiter ignored us for an hour and then told us off when I asked for the bill(I wasn’t yelling or anything just asked for the bill when he walked by the table). Dude was probably just having a bad day and I hated to contribute to it but at the same time he didn’t earn anything. I live in Australia now so I don’t tip anymore

That dude deserved an “accidental” dine & dash 🏎
😂 in the restaurants defence the food wasn’t bad

On your title you wrote 'server' ... which derives from servant ... though on the video you say waiter and waitress ... why the click bait title?
I don't care about PCs .. but a waiter is not a servant!
I waited tables for a few years in my life, and every time I heard the word servant, it made me feel like a slave ... it never sounded OK ... sorry for the thumbs down ...
Well here in the states where I live server & watiter/waitress are interchangeable. Meaning, there is not much of an argument over which term is preferred.
You are right ... I looked it up .. in England, server may have a negative connotation, specially in Food and Catering ... my apologies ...
Your real just fine, just expressing your opinion. I understand. I’m glad you were able to find good information that allowed you to understand where I was coming from with my statement.
A very small tip is worse than no tip. So if I really don't hate the service, I give out pennies and dimes. I think that when you don't tip at all, it's like you are not evaluating the service.
