I saw your cover picture and thought that the surprise was your hornworm! Judging by the size of it, I wonder if that was actually what stripped your tomato plants. It's amazing what damage a caterpillar that size can do.

I don’t think the hornworm did all that damage. I mean we were gone for a week but a lot of the plants didn’t have any stems left by the time we got home. He was juicy when I squished him tho :P
