NextColony Live Soundtrack Ambient Performance 03: "CCONTRAILSS"
Can we find serenity in a war ravaged universe? Can homemade reverse piano samples through the Make Noise Morphagene encapsulate our sense of wonder at the scope of the galaxy while a fleet of Destroyers continue to bombard our distant colonies, making rapid deployment of Corvette Petunias completely futile? Probably not, but we can stare out the port window and try.
Today's piece is the third ambient, droning modular piece I've come up with for the @nextcolony project and I think this will prove to be an ideal backdrop to watching explorer IIs launch from the view of your newly finished Uranium Depot 16, because that was a fun surprise grind to finally have the resources onhand to get one assembled. As noted, I composed a short piano piece and fed it into the Morphagene sampler and reversed it to get started. I'm not actually sequencing it as much as letting it create an orchestral wash ... towards the end I move the playhead forward to change the chord shape and open up some top end frequencies by focusing the granular stretching on a higher octave. It's far simpler and more intuitive in practice than it is to describe ... if you can use a tape deck, you can extract longform orchestral pads from almost anything with the Morphagene. The piano just happened to be particulary rich (and particularly relevant as a timbre for space exploration.)
I start the piece with some Dual Looping Delay set to a long clocked interval. I'm feeding some chords from Plaits into it and applying a slow modulation to the shape of the chord and waveform of the chord. I'm also plucking in some notes with my Keystep manually ... I really enjoy feeding a manually inputed and sequenced source into the same delay, as it begins to smear the edges of what's happening in real time and what's composed. The triple triangle setting through the e350 filter with this long of a delay is instant Battles territory. If you are unfamiliar with Battles, allow me to familiarize you with one of my favorite bands ever:
Super pumped to be able to make time to write on the big modular again. With some road miles ahead, I will once again be forced to improvise with limited resources in weird environments. Basically my other favorite thing to do. Digitakt Across America, anybody? (Note: I do not yet own a Digitakt.)
Also pumped to be posting this with the #creativecoin tag, preemptively even. PAL and the Steem-engine environment has been super good to me, so I"m excited to start curating a tag dedicated to creatives ... something I've been chirping on about for ages now. Despite Steem's price being pretty low right now, one can't help but see this as the most exciting time to be here .. Dtube DTC, NextColony, PALnet and now CreativeCoin are all becoming super viable ways to not only make some extra crypto on your work ... but excellent ways to get the content you slave over infront of new audience that are by their very intiative to use new platforms sorta the exact "curation first" steemians you want to get infront of.
I ramble. Space jams bring the ramble. Behold below my new signature, complete with professional crypto dude BTC donation QR I should have started running on the Bit Brigade page about eight years ago. WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO TIP THE OPERATOR. = )

Hi Drumoperator,
Wonderful music bro - and superbly filmed as well - classic!
That Battles vid was very cool indeed too.
Love your new Signature and QR code - exciting times ... who will be first to tip? =D
THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME. 🤪
=D
I really like the mellowness of this track and it would go well with a yoga session:)
Love Battles, BTW...the vocalist on that tune kind of makes me feel okay about attempts at singing my tunes:P
All you need is a digitech whammy! His name is Tyondai Braxton and he's an incredibly compelling musical character ... perhaps even more so post battles?

Soooooo beautiful. I will enjoy this anytime anywhere.... sheer cosmic bliss!!!!!! I want more. RESTEEMED
Thanks sally!!! Really appreciate you taking time to comment so often.
Note: I attempted to comment on Dtube... twice... both failed. LOL! So I came back here! Another note, the links NEVER work for DTUBE. If you can, maybe also upload a youtube or something so it can be embedded. I was super interested in your music or I would NOT have taken the extra 2 mintues to FIND it on Dtube. It was really hard. LOL! No easy way from a STEEM post... quite sad.
Anyway.... let's see if I can remember what I originally wrote... twice.... LOL!
DUDE! This is awesome! I'm totally enthralled with all the lines and nobs and colors! I took a semester of sound in college (theatre nerd here), but never got to something like this!
What is everything hooked to?! I must know! 🤣
This is PERFECT for NextColony! I just started playing about a month ago. It's pretty slow going, but I finally can explore and got lucky with a nice little mining planet.
Great job on this, my dude!
I too could not comment from dtube. Though was able to watch
Hyjinx abounding.
First and foremost thanks so much for the kind words. I'm not sure if perhaps its an IPFS issue (nor am I completely sure I understand IPFS) but I was able to watch the video after posting yesterday and can get it to play now as well. Kinda concerning that I can't doublecheck to see if -everybody- can see it, as I haven't had any issues for months. The link in question is the embedded link in the photo, correct?
That being said, they are making a million changes at once to improve the site, so some downtime and glitchyness is to be expected. I had some AMAZINGLY hilarious crypo-hyjinx posting this stupid thing yesterday .... the upload had failed once before and drained 100 percent of my DTC voting power into a video that did not, infact, exist. This time I figured I'd set it to 1 percent and then unvote and revote at 100 ... except ... nah. Not so much. Turns out you can't unvote through the DTube browser. To add compound hilarity, in the process of setting my voting power to try and re-vote, I then managed to drop 100 percent of my voting power on the first video I tried to upvote. Not a 100 percent upvote. 100 percent of my voting power. I think it's kinda rad that this is a feature, and to be fair I had been warned in the dtube post, but oof. Such hyjinx. May @dramamask enjoy his 30KVP. At least it went to a deserving video!
I really appreciate the extra effort to actually watch my content. I think Dtube will get the commenting stuff sorted ... its probably being stress tested pretty hardcore right now with their contest initiative.
