RE: What's the value in proof of stake ?
You bring up something very interesting.
Putting the emphasis on proof of stake does not appear to be steering us in a good direction.
I also see a lot of talk about the quality of post and increasing the quality being the most important thing.
It appears that the main motivator is to attract investors and attract talented content creators.
The two questions that come to my mind are,
How can we attract high quality content creators
How do we increase the amount of active users to provide the votes to make it worth their time.
IMHO retaining users must be the priority. Achieving that comes down to three things.
The quality of connection people form with others.
The ability to accumulate Steem.
The ability act on the platform as dictated by Recourse Credits.
If we take care of those things the user base will grow. In turn that will provide the numbers to support High Quality Content Creators. When people see this place as thriving, those with spare cash will invest in Steem, and they will be the kind of investors we need the most as opposed to the predatory kind of investor.

I think we should be open for everyone as we were always. Talking about the quality is not the same for everyone. Everyone has his standarts of quality. The most important is to keep fighting spam and plagiarism and to keep inviting people. We need mass adoption in this thing, but not only tge elite. We have to repeat the success of facebook, but in a desentralized way. That's what I think we need. When we will have enough active steemians no matter how steem power they will have. Bug investors will automatically come. They need good traffic to invest it. Traffic is money in the web.
