The Biggest Threat To The Steem Is Obscurity
There's tons of debate going on as to what needs to be done to push Steem forward as a whole.
Of course there are things that need to be addressed like the vision, onboarding and potentially the economics of Steem.
But imo the biggest focus right now should be getting Steem out of obscurity. There are other chains out there that have no working product or service but yet they are more known than Steem.
I think at this point we simply lack visibilty and if people simply knew about Steem and what it is they wouldn't hesitate to join our community.

Yea I think steemmonsters is cool. I haven't played it though. It's a great project with loads of potential.
@humanearl, In my opinion this new Ecosystem has to dealt with strong mindset because when it comes to Steem then many new users fail to stay long and that is because of Complexity.
This is not like Traditional platforms where after a post we will receive tons of comments and engagement and i am saying this in regards to the entry level mechanism not about the ultimate vision.
It's nothing wrong but Wallet Follow is more when it comes to Steem and by that i mean, more Steem Power you have more engagement you will receive in most of the cases but not in all cases for sure.
In my opinion somewhere Steem is strongly hanged with the Smart Media Protocol (SMT) and once SMT will be launched then may be we can see promotion of Steem on Mass Level. Mass Adoption will not come from the Manual Effort, definitely full fledged promotions are needed.
This platform have negative points but i am focusing torwards positives and somewhere my gut feeling is telling that Steem Train will run on the right tracks soon.

I agree that SMT can be a game changer. I think marketing and SMT's need to be the focus at this point. There's not many articles outside of Steem about our blockchain and it's sad because I believe this is one of the top 10 blockchains in terms of use case.
Yes, it's sad. But In my opinion we are seeing change step by step and let's hope that these small steps will going to open the gate for something huge.
