Sometimes the mind gets in the way. It thinks it knows what it wants, what is logical for it to want, and so tries to force and manipulate its surroundings to fit that. A mind that is not in coherence with the heart gives value based only on past experience. It is the heart that knows something even better is possible, beyond what the brain can predict. It takes cultivating that coherence, that trust, to surrender to the flow.

I did many takes in order to capture this Mindful Monday. My brain kept grabbing hold of the wheel and telling me that I should play certain notes and that it should sound a particular way, following a known pattern. The result? A lot of frustration and music that sounded forced or with a lot of stops and breaks in the flow. With an awareness of what was happening, I took a few moments to check in with my heart, tuning into what was there with my brain, and then this piece just flowed out. .

It doesn't have to be hard. We don't have to experience such resistance if we don't want to. The heart holds the map of your life journey and the brain has the code to decipher it. All it takes is tuning in. The @heartmathinstitute
