Culinary Tour - Aceh Leumang Making Process
The resident of Pidie District is specialized in Tangse, Mane and Geumpang area, cooking lemang which is a tradition when commemorating the Prophet Muhammad's Mawlid Shallallahu`alaihi Wasallam. Usually the process of making leumang done a day before the day commemorate the Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu alaihi wasallam mawlid. As is known, lemang made from pulut or sticky rice mixed with coconut milk and salt and then coated with banana leaves, and burned using bamboo. How to burn the lemang with the position in the center of the bamboo is slightly tilted on the pole support. In order to cook evenly, then rotate the bamboo is burned with a fire wood.
