Honestly, if anyone has a complaint, it should be @josephsavage. It's probably hurting the initiative more than the people being downvoted.
Tis but a scratch. Community has come together to support each other. While a few have ducked for cover, the initiative is stronger than ever.
Well, nobody has rallied to his cause, so at some point he needs to decide if it's a worthwhile endeavor. Everything is working as designed, people just need to understand that.

I'm not just talking about the comments on this post. I'm looking at the general community and whats on the trending list, people are all bringing up their concerns about HF21 and the downvote abuses from whales, tribes, or bots. People are getting upset and no amount of downvoting my content on my posts will change the fact that dissent is increasing and toxicity is growing on this network.

I get a few 'dust' downvotes, AKA fleabites. So what if I get 0.1% less of the magic money fountain? The good people far outnumber the trolls.
so, you are against vote buying from bidbots but you are supporting vote buying from sbi? (because you have sbi shares?)
I bought them to support others. Don't give a shit what I make, which is cents. Buying votes for tens of dollars on a post is a very different thing that distorts the rewards model. Anyway, I only make beer money here for now. I give up on some rewards to help others. Is that a bad thing too? We need to be doing what we can to build up the Steem community. Downvoting over such a petty matter is counterproductive.

Everyone gets a say in how the rewards are distributed and you chose your way. I think Steem has bigger problems than SBI.
There is no 'right way' or 'wrong way', there is only the consensus after 7 days. If someone voting in opposition to a vote distribution mechanism is enough to sink this ecosystem, we have bigger issues. This is actually a good opportunity to educate those ignorant about downvoting, decentralized governance, proof of stake, and consensus. Steem should be shattering the mental models created by traditional social media. The opportunity cost of downvoting was just too high to accomplish that, so the uninformed user got spoiled for a long time watching the concept of voting being a one-way street.
The expectation needs to change, and if that means the people locked into that old mental model leaving, then so be it. I'd be willing to bet those same people would come rushing back at the first scent of a bull market.
He baselessly claims it is a "ponzi scheme" which just shows that either he doesn't understand how it works or (more likely) he just doesn't understand what a ponzi scheme even is! And the blatant hypocrisy in him trying to fight "vote selling" when that is exactly what he did with his bidbot! As as bidbot owner with over a dozen alt accounts he is in no place to judge what is right or wrong here on Steem. Now he is mad that his scam has ended. So like an upset child, he has decided to take out his anger (caused only by his own failures) on other innocent people. Making him nothing more than a big bully!
