Hints About Issues of Kobo Aura H2O eBook Reader

For this post I am going o say a few words about my newly acquired Kobo Aura H2O ebook reader. I have bought this ebook because Kobo has entered Turkish market and published new books in Turkish. By the time I wrote this post Amazon is not selling Turkish ebooks and ebooks in Amazon are expensive than in Kobo store because Kobo uses TL (Turkish Lira) instead of USD. But this doesnt make this ebook reader better than kindle. Here’s why:

Unfortunately, Kobo Aura has some stabilitiy issues and lack of pdf features. I have bought an ebook reader to read pdfs. But Kobo is not good at PDF files. Zooming in and out is problematic. Also my most wanted feature is highlighting text. You cannot highlight text in PDFs. No dictionary look ups. You can only view like picture file.

If your are predominantly a PDF reader stay away from Kobo.

One stability issue with Kobo is sometimes you cannot highlight text. You try again and again and again. You have to be patient. First select text to be underlined than wait at least 5 seconds. Then press highlight.

Overall, Kobo Aura is a good ebook reader, English ebooks are cheaper than Amazon (for Turkey). 90 percent of ebooks in Amazon are also in Kobo store. But if you are planning to read pdf go buy kindle.

I think I will also buy Kindle Paperwhite sooner or later :)
