From Zero to Echelon Witness, Part 1b: Connection lost
Dear friends, before you run out of popcorn while waiting for the announced Part 2, I regret to inform you...
...things often turn out differently than you think.

Everything was running smoothly, my Witness was diligently producing blocks. Part 2 was almost finished, and to make sure everything was correct and easy to follow, I set up a fresh Ubuntu 22.04 to go through my instructions again.
But then my witness lost connection. Echelon-node1 developed a kind of life of its own and wanted nothing more to do with other witnesses. Well... without the masternode or functioning peers, the whole thing seems hopeless to me. Unfortunately, my knowledge in this area is also very limited.
If I understand the source code correctly, 3 witnesses would be sufficient. So I started a second witness, hoping that this would get the chain back on track. In vain.
Current status: the sidechain is 127809.85 seconds behind Steem, which is 35 hours.
I will continue to monitor the situation, but for now, that's enough, which means that Part 2 will definitely not be published this year.

Schade, aber verständlich.
Vielleicht kriegen wir das ja im nächsten Jahr mal mit einem Peer hin (wenn es daran liegen sollte)... taugt doch gut als Vorsatz für's neue Jahr. :-)

Hatte noch versucht eine komplett neue Sidechain zu starten, ivychain - Efeu wäre doch ein passender Name :-) aber der Sync mit der Steemchain kommt nicht in Gang.
Ein Knackpunkt, bevor ich noch weiter Zeit investiere, ist die angekündigte Veröffentlichung vom Frontend. Das warte ich jetzt erstmal ab, sonst macht es ja wenig Sinn.
Freut mich jedenfalls, dass du auch Interesse hast, das war so insgeheim meine Hoffnung :-)

Ja, bisher hat er seine Ankündigungen ja noch wahr gemacht. Insofern hoffe ich insbesondere auch noch auf die Dokumentation.
Wir starten dann im nächsten Jahr einen Versuch. Für's Ausprobieren bin ich doch immer zu haben.
