Carrying Your EDC

in #edc6 years ago

There’s no denying that most every prepper has an EDC they wear everyday. Before I go into how to carry/disguise your EDC gear, I’m gonna list my gear and how I carry it.
I live pretty rurally so there are plenty of people who carry large knives. I carry this CFK35 knife on my right hip in the leather sheath they sent with it. As you can see the sheath has a pouch that is about the size of a zippo lighter. The knife came with the ferro rod and the whetstone.

Outside of the knife and the small pouch I carry this camera bag just behind the sheath on my right side, in this camera bag I have a compass, small medical kit, as well as some water purification tablets. The medical kit is just some bandaids and a gauze pad but I will be adding a small tube of antibiotic ointment as well.

This brings me to the first thing, camera cases are amazing for disguising your smaller EDC gear and to keep your pockets clear and accessible for your wallet and phone. If you are the type that always has a bag on you 24-7 I’d recommend getting a zipper pencil case or some other zippered bag and put some stuff into your everyday bag inside of that bag you use daily. What you carry is up to you, but if SHTF and you’re not home, you are relying on what you have on your person or in your bag to get you home.
Since I’m so rural I do not carry food, since when I go to work I leave a bushcrafting bag in my car that has some food in it. I will go over what I have in my bushcraft bag in a later post. Most of the time I do not carry it because of the weight.
In my opinion the biggest thing you carry in your EDC should fit in your hand (excluding your weapon if you choose to carry a firearm). Also in my opinion you should keep your pockets as cleared as possible, I only have my wallet, flashlight, and phone in my pockets as well as a bandana in my back pocket.
I hope people find this helpful, sorry it is kind of rambling.

I actually only wear pants now that have the large cargo pokets with the molle webbing in them. This keeps my extra handgun mags standing up for quick easy access and also gives me a spot for flashlights, pocket knives, etc. My gear is always on me so I don't end up in a situation where I sat my pouch down and walked into a gas station or ran out of the house in a hurry and left it behind. I try to keep a pack with whatever else I would need in my truck including a change of cloths with a set of boots just in case I ended up leaving with flip flops that day. Never know what, when or where something might happen. Here in FL we have a concealed weapons permit where I can carry any type of weapon where in other states you have a handgun permit but large knives and other certain things can still be illegal. Makes no sense to me how you can carry a handgun but not be legal to carry a larger knife but everywhere is different.
