How to improve yourself?

Hello steemit friends:

A few days ago, I watched a TED about how to get better at the things you care about. I think it is great and would like to share with you the impressions of after watching.

Most of us encountered this kind of problem that we don't gain much when we unceasingly study and work , obviously it is not the ideal. An educational scholars made a brief statement according to the problem.

What I've learned is that the most effective people and teams in any domain do something we can all emulate. They go through life deliberately alternating between two zones: the learning zone and the performance zone. The learning zone is when our goal is to improve. Then we do activities designed for improvement, concentrating on what we haven't mastered yet, which means we have to expect to make mistakes, knowing that we will learn from them. That is very different from what we do when we're in our performance zone, which is when our goal is to do something as best as we can, to execute. Then we concentrate on what we have already mastered and we try to minimize mistakes.

As we all know, we want to learn a new courses, such as technology, language, or other skills, we have to study and work continually in order to obtain relevant knowledge, and then accumulate and master it gradually. Learning zone is that you transform your ability into into your skills. And concentrate your efforts on challenging higher goals. Its important that you focus on the tasks that help you make the most progress.

For example, he said each of us has probably spent many, many, many hours typing on a computer without getting faster, but if we spent 10 to 20 minutes each day fully concentrating on typing 10 to 20 percent faster than our current reliable speed, we would get faster, especially if we also identified what mistakes we're making and practiced typing those words. That's deliberate practice.

I have a friend who is an English teacher. And she often communicates with her American friends, at least two or three times a week, I was invited to chat with them and I feel it's really good. The weekly video chat is intended oral practice. Although she teaches well, she still try to improve her English and such initiative is highly commendable.

As with learning to play a musical instrument, takes lots of time and practice. Furthermore, you need to practice targeted skills. So do the dancers. They practice many times a day to see if their body movements are beautiful in the mirror, and find and correct the faults.

So deliberate practice is very important in learning zone. we should spent more time exploring, asking, listening, experimenting, reflecting, striving instead of doing , doing, doing , performing, performing, performing. You can make more better.

Every thing has its own learning zone and performing zone. Combining these two parts organically can fully achieve your goals.

Hope all is well for you

Yeah, it can be used in many aspects. thank you for the commenting!

I would always tell people that I am training in my emergency response team that training is the time to make mistakes. It is the time to ask dumb questions, forget things, do it wrong.

There is no insult in making a mistake and learning from it. We always work hard to minimize risk during training because we know that mistakes will be made. The mark of a good trainer is one that will take a mistake and use it as a positive learning experience.

Sometimes i would even get someone to make a 'mistake' on purpose so I can use it to teach others how not to make the mistake themselves.

When you have an environment like that people are more willing to push themselves and try things they are not sure of. they earn faster and better and perform much better when they are in the 'performance' stage.

So when you are training - focus on training and don't worry about your mistakes.
When you are performing - perform to the best of your ability, all the time.

@trevor.george, Yeah, absolutely agree with your points.
focus on training and don't worry about your small mistakes, because you can correct it and can learn a lesson from it.
As for performance, believe that you tried your best.
