Learn Guitar: Visuals for the Modes
Modes in C Ionian
Below are the modes. The modes are useful for many things and is used in lots of western music. As has been discussed before, the modes are 7 intervals out of the 12 total tones in the diatonic scale. If there are 7 modes in a set order, then you could start the stop the scale in seven different ways.
As will be discussed further in the actual videos the modes is nothing more than a list of 7 in 7 different orders. Playing the modes will help you discover what scale sounds good with what chords, and what chords might sound good together. The modes provides a useful approach and introduction to music and one approach to playing. As we will see in section 3 which integrates harmonic and melodic modifications to the modes, a different approach to to music.
Any feedback on these visuals is appreciated. The octive highlighted is always the C, do you think it would be better if 1 was always highlighted, so in D Dorian instead of C being highlighted, D would be?
C Ionian
D Dorian
E Phrygian
F Lydian
G MixoLydian
A Aeolian
B Locrian

Keep up the good work. You’re like the Leonardo DaVinci of Steem.
Feel free to call me a hero
wow........ you lost me at modes.....lol.... All my guitars are tuned to open tuning of some sort with the exception of a couple 4 and 6 stringers. If I can't just bar a fret and make a chord I'm in trouble...... But then cigar box guitars are supposed to be fun and simple.....You do great work here my friend. Maybe I should just sit and read your posts from the beginning and actually try to practise.... Thanks
C'es la vie, thanks for the support. Hope the new year is going well!! Let me know if and when you have a 6 string you want to sell for upvotes and we can try to do a post giveaway for one of your guitars to get us both some promo.
good , upvote
