The answer is unknown unless you are provided with what the sales tax is for the area in which the transaction is involved. The cost of an item includes the tax charged for taking the item into your possession. For example, if the sales tax rate is 10% and the ball is included for free if you buy the bat then the cost of the ball is actually zero dollars.
