💵 Are you Looking to Monetize your Content? 💵

in #education5 years ago

Many people here on steem have created quite a library of content.  People that did not create content before joining steem have now gained amazing experience.  Creating content can be a rather good revenue stream, if you know where and how to publish it.  With people coming to steem to earn a revenue, then finding out their voices ain't worth at the moment, many steemains have begun to seek alternative sources of revenue.

As a content creator, maybe you would be interested in producing online course or classes?  And maybe I can help you!!!!!

I am quite happy, as an experienced online instructor, help you get into the game.  Teaching online is a great source of revenue, be it part-time or full time.  If there is enough demand, I would also be happy to set up a community around it so we can all help each other.

Skillshare as a Revenue Source

One platform I can recommend starting with is Skillshare. Skillshare is an online platform where instructors can upload video classes and earn revenue from views.  For those not quite ready to produce full online courses or those that are new to teaching online, Skillshare is a viable option and top instructors are said to make up to  $100K a year.

And there are some other Steemians using skillshare.  @teamhumble has a series of classes, one of which is a class called Digital Independence using Steem Infrastructure

and I also found a class by @dragosroua - Blockchain 101

Because the platform focuses on Classes rather than courses, its an ideal platform for those already posting tutorials to Youtube or even Dtube. It is also ideal for those just starting out and giving online teaching a try.  The minimum class duration is 10 min and all classes should have a class project.  After that, once you have 25 students, your class becomes revenue-generating.

The Royalties revenue is based on a split of subscription fees paid by students and prorated as minutes of your classes views/minutes of all classes viewed.  On average this year I have been earning $0.06 per minute viewed.

In addition to Royalties, instructors can earn referral income of $10 for every new student they bring to the platform that purchases a premium membership.

Instructors can also earn revenue from brining new instructors to the platform.  Not a bad payment of $50 per instructor.

So, if you produce video content, that is educational in nature, why not convert it into a class on Skillshare and start generating a little revenue from it.  Let me know in the comments below that you would like to be an instructor and I can pass over your details and earn some bonus payments.

My Skillshare Activity

My activity on Skillshare as an instructor has been very little. I uploaded a few classes a few years back (in 2017) and never really followed up or created a community around the classes and project.  In total, I had uploaded 19 classes and have 3303 student and 46K min of content viewed.

As I have been producing heaps of premium content over the last year, I had decided to share much of this new content on Skillshare.

However, I had produced a series of Professional Bookkeeping and Accounting courses also back in 2016, and none of these did very well at the time.  In the last few months however I have seen a change in uptake and these courses are now doing rather well on Udemy.  In addition to that, Alison.com, another online teaching platform contacted my looking to host the same bookkeeping and accounting courses.  Apparently, there is a large demand for online Accounting instructors and I already have content created.

So, to kick start my activity on Skillshare again, I am going first with the Bookkeeping and Accounting Classes and then the new content.   Unfortunately, you can only publish one class per week on Skillshare, so to get the complete series out, will take around 12 weeks.

With the first two classes uploaded and published, I now need to get 25 students on each before they become revenue-generating.

I don’t think it will be difficult to get 25 students.  Skillshare gives you the ability to email students that have taken previous classes and the skillshare platform contains a great search function that works well, allowing for students to find my classes.  In addition to that, instructors can give out free coupons to watch their classes too.

You can check my latest classes here, these enrolment links are free and will help me clock up the first 25 students

Although I think I'm quite a good learner and very fast doing it. I think I suck at teaching others... hopefully, that is just because of my young age and lack of experience, because I would like to share my knowledge somewhere down the line.
