The Maya are a fairly visionary tribe in their day. Now Scientists are researching the cause of the disappearance of the Maya.

The tribe is famous for their astrology and their innovative way of life. Although they grew very rapidly in their time, the tribe disappeared "mysteriously" between the eighth and ninth centuries.

The general theory of the causes of the Mayan disappearance was discussed earlier by scientists. They assume the Mayans collapsed due to several things including illness, war, and sociopolitical conflict.

Quoted from Gizmodo, a recent study shows that this tribe is likely to be lost due to one thing: dryness. The impact of drought has made the Maya quite difficult to collect drinking water and irrigate their crops.

It can also encourage the spread of disease and increase tensions between Maya leaders and their residents.

"We already know that the final stage of the period of the Classic Maya Terminal is marked by severe drought," said Fernando Gazquez-Sanchez, a research study writer and geochemist at Scotland's St. Andrew University.

They found the theory based on sedimentary layers from Lake Chichancanab on the Yucatan Peninsula. The peninsula is where they built futuristic cities in their day.

Compared to today, researchers found annual rainfall decreased between 41 percent and 54 percent. The drought is predicted to occur for several decades and make them disappear from civilization.

When the dry season is most severe, rainfall decreases by 70 percent. The research team found that the relative humidity in the region fell between 2 and 7 percent compared to the current climate.

The key to knowing all these numbers is the presence of minerals in lake sediments called gypsum.

Gypsum is formed at the bottom of the lake during dry or dry conditions. Thus, gypsum traps water molecules in its structure. The molecule is called "fossil water".

By examining these water fossils, scientists can uncover hidden numbers.

The research method of fossil water causes the loss of virtual tribes can also be applied to examine the climate of the planet Mars millions of years ago.
