Student's Poor Performance In School

It is alarming to know that students do not perform well at school basically as a result of their nonchalant attitude towards their studies. As you know ,students are suppose to be brilliant scholars, dedicated to their book work than social media.
Firstly, social media has contributed greatly on the performance of students in schools, in the sense that, a teacher will be in class teaching while the students who are suppose to pay attention to what is been taught, prefer to Facebook or tweet with their phone while lesson is on.
The spirit of attentiveness is no longer in the students, all they wait is for the bell to be rung so they can go home and continue from where they stopped, they forgot that time waits for no man ,and every time wasted cannot be recovered or regained.

Secondly, laziness on the part of the students. A student should be able to make research on every topic given or taught not solely relying on what the teacher has taught in class. One would discover that students of this present day no longer willing to sacrifice their time to educate themselves positively, some inform their parent that they are off to school, instead they prefer to hangout in a friends place or better still pretend to have gone to school, but the moment they notice their parent had gone to work, they sit back at home wasting lavishing away their time.
I know of a boy who sits at home after the parents has left for work, he believes he does not need to go to school for him to become somebody in life, he believes that most of the world richest men are not educated, he even went further sighting examples of those who are educated but jobless and can't feed themselves let alone feeding other, it didn't tell on him that the economy of those days was better off than now.
Initially in Nigeria as soon as one graduates from school, one is given a job, I mean automatic employment, unlike now where graduates have to roam about the street in search of any kind of job.
It is very difficult for graduate to get jobs in Nigeria let alone one who has no educational background.

Thirdly, ill treatment of a child and non parental care , this is another factor that influences a student performance at school, due to the fact that a child who is expected to be at school by 7:45 or 8:00 am will hawk in the morning before going to school, you discovered that the child's brain will not be ready or galvanized to assimilate whatever the student is taught.
It is either the child is tired, thinking of the domestic work that awaits them at home, it is also possible that the child has not had s sound sleep the previous night because such a child has to work till 2:00 am in the morning, you will find out that the child has not had enough rest before setting out for the days Hawking in the street. One would see that, that the child's performance will be poor at school, because when that child gets to school is either that child sleeps while the teacher is teaching or her mind wonders away, thinking of the chores that awaits her at home.

Further more, non parental care from parents also contributes to the out come of the child, where by parents do not create time for their children ,they are always busy chasing after money forgetting they own a responsibility to the child.
Inconclusively, I believe if students spend less time on social media, concentrate more on their school work, and Parent or guardian perform their responsibility to the children and if they can reduce the house chores on the child, I believe the performance of the students would be better.
