Why tution is not a profession?

For an unknown reason in bangladesh teaching profession is not in the top profession.Now a days students want to be in administration than in teaching.
From my childhood i saw my mother was teaching student and from that time i also wanted to be a teacher.From my university life i did so, i taught huge student.Just after when i have done my graduation when i reply people that i am continuing my tution people look on me in a peculiar way and suggests to seek a job.Why tution is not a job?
