The greatest wealth in life: a healthy body and a peaceful mind.

in #emotion6 days ago

The most foolish thing a person can do in life is to risk their life for money. By the time they get the money, they're half-dead. People always think that living in a big house, driving a nice car, and having face in front of others equates to success. But only after striving to the end do they realize that being free from illness and disaster, and having inner peace, is the most important blessing.

Many people spend their lives rushing around, forgetting why they started. To earn more money, working overtime and staying up late are the norm, and irregular meals are commonplace. For so-called connections and business, they attend one drinking party after another, drinking until their stomachs hurt and their heads are about to explode, yet they still pretend to be fine. To keep up with others, they want to buy what others buy, and change what others change,

even though they can manage, they force themselves to live a life of unbearable hardship.

You think this is striving, but it's actually overdrawing your life. When you're young, you always think your body can handle it; staying up a few nights is okay, losing a few hours of sleep is fine, and indulging in excessive eating and drinking is harmless. But the body never lies. Every time you mistreat it, it holds a grudge, and when the reckoning comes, no one can escape it.

I've seen too many people like this: they spend the first half of their lives working tirelessly to earn money, scrimping and saving on food, clothing, and even more so, rest, all to provide a better life for their families. In the end, just as they've saved a little money, they collapse. Lying in a hospital bed, tubes in, taking medication, no amount of expensive supplements can restore their former energy, and no amount of money can buy a good night's sleep. Only then do they realize: the ordinary sunshine outside the window, a normal meal, and a full night's sleep are more precious than mountains of gold and silver.

The most foolish thing people do is wait until they lose their health to understand its importance.

As the old saying goes, "A peaceful mind is a blessing." Many people are unhappy not because they have too little, but because they want too much. Seeing others get promotions and raises makes you feel resentful; seeing others buy new cars and houses makes you anxious; scrolling through social media, all you see is other people's glamorous lives, while looking at your own mundane existence makes you feel hopeless.

But you forget that other people's lives are for others to see, while your own life is for yourself.

True good life isn't about comparison, but about cherishing it. It's not in fancy restaurants, not in boasting at dinner parties, and certainly not in empty pretenses. It's hidden in a bowl of hot porridge in the morning, in the light left on for you when you come home from get off work, and in the warmth and comfort of a simple meal shared with family.

Weekends are free from rushing around and social obligations. Cooking a few home-cooked meals for your wife and kids, watching them eat with satisfaction and smile happily—that sense of peace and warmth is more comforting than negotiating multi-million dollar projects or drinking endlessly.

The most valuable assets in this world are never bank deposits, houses, or cars, but your health and the family around you.

Working yourself to the bone for money, only to collapse before you've spent it all, is the most unprofitable trade. The excitement of fame and fortune is temporary; the glamour in the eyes of outsiders is illusory. True happiness lies in the peace and well-being of your family, free from illness and disaster, with laughter during the day and a good night's sleep at night.

As you grow older, you'll understand: in this journey of life, winning isn't about how much wealth or titles you have, but about whether you can take good care of your health and cherish the time with those around you.

Stop wasting your energy on unworthy people and things, stop overdrawing your resources on unattainable desires. Less comparison, more contentment; less anxiety, more peace of mind; one less all-nighter, one more hour of sleep; one less pointless drinking session, one more meal with family.

Eat when you're hungry, sleep when you're sleepy, rest when you're tired. Be more open-minded, less attached to things, and keep things simple.

Good health is the greatest fortune; a peaceful mind is the greatest wealth.

Don't envy others' prosperity. Protect your health, cherish the companionship you have now, and live a simple, peaceful, and healthy life. You are the richest person in this world.
